Install A1 SwapMod, load your build plates, and prepare your first print with ASWAP. Start with the hardware installation, then follow the desktop or web workflow that fits your setup.
Software guide version: ASWAP Studio V153.11. Screens and button names may differ in other versions.
This hardware guide covers A1 SwapMod. DIY and Standard Kit users follow the same installation steps. DIY users need to print the required parts before beginning assembly.
Follow the video for the assembly order, mounting positions and mechanical setup. Complete the hardware installation before preparing a plate-changing print.

After installation, follow the demonstration below to position the build plates in the SwapMod mechanism. Check that each plate is properly seated and that the discharge area is clear.

This guide follows ASWAP Studio V153.11. If you download a newer version, some screens and controls may differ.
This demonstration covers printer configuration, file import and upload, starting a print, pausing, resuming and stopping. The instructions below follow the demonstrated workflow.

Enter your own printer details rather than copying the example values in the video. For the LAN workflow, the computer and printer must be on a network that allows them to communicate.
Slice the job for the intended printer. Check the printer model, nozzle, plate type and filament settings before exporting the sliced print file. An unsliced model or project is not a ready-to-print job.
For plate-changing prints, use the prepared file and workflow intended for your SwapMod setup. Importing an ordinary sliced file alone does not confirm that plate-changing instructions are included.
Uploading transfers the file to the printer. Starting the print is a separate action.
Use the queue row and Selected job panel to check the reported status. Allow the printer time to acknowledge each command.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Uploading | The file is being transferred to the printer. |
| Ready To Start | The uploaded job is ready for the Start action. Check the physical printer and materials first. |
| Starting | The start command has been sent and ASWAP is waiting for the printer's running status. |
| Running | The printer reports that the job is running. |
| Paused | The job is paused and can be resumed. |
| Stopped | The current attempt has stopped. Check the job message and plate readiness before another print. |
Stop ends the current print attempt. Pause temporarily holds it. In the demonstration, a stopped job displays Stop requested from ASWAP.
After the stopped print in the demonstration, ASWAP displays: Plate: awaiting your confirmation before the next print.
Confirm plate ready records your physical check. Click it only after verifying that the printer and plate are ready.
Select the queue row and use Remove when the job is eligible. ASWAP can block removal while a job is active or has a pending plate confirmation. Resolve that state before trying again.
The web tool prepares a print file that you save and transfer to the printer. Follow this workflow separately from the desktop Farm Queue instructions above.
Check that the printer is powered on and reachable from the computer. Review the IP address, serial number and LAN access code in its printer profile, then try Connect again.
Upload and Start are separate actions. Select the job, wait for Ready To Start, check the printer and materials, then click Start print. Resolve any pending plate confirmation first.
Check the printer screen for an error or a request requiring attention. Review the job message and material selection. Avoid repeatedly sending Start commands while the printer is still responding.
Review the printer's AMS configuration and the job's AMS selection. The Selected job panel includes Configure AMS materials and Use external spool controls. Match the job to the filament source actually loaded before starting.
Check whether ASWAP is waiting for plate confirmation. Inspect and prepare the physical plate, click Confirm plate ready, then try Remove again once the job is no longer active or pending confirmation.
Printed represents successful runs in this interface. Starting, pausing or stopping a job does not by itself count as a successfully completed run.
Stop the job and wait for the printer to stop moving. Review the installation and plate loading videos, check the plate positioning, and confirm that the print file contains the intended SwapMod sequence before trying again.
